Roll dice

Roll up to six six-sided dice and read the total.

Setup

Changing the count clears the previous roll — that result is not an answer for the new count.

How the roll works

Every press picks one of 1 to 6 at random for each die. It runs inside this browser, and the values are neither stored nor sent to a server.

What range does the total cover

Two dice give 2 to 12, three give 3 to 18. Middle values come up more often: with two dice there are six ways to make 7 (1+6, 2+5, 3+4 and their mirrors), the most of any total. At the ends, 2 and 12 have one combination each, so they are rare.

How the faces are drawn

The pips follow the standard layout of a real die: the 1 is a single pip in the center, and the 6 is two columns of three.

What it is for

A board game whose dice went missing, deciding who goes first, or picking one number. The count goes up to six, which covers board games that use several dice at once.

How is the share link built

Share puts the faces you rolled into the address and builds a link. Opening that link draws the same faces, and the person who opened it can roll their own dice right away. Rolls are not stored — a refresh clears them, and they go into an address only when you build a link.

The address is scrambled so the values are not readable, and changing one character stops the faces from showing. That catches links garbled in transit or edited by hand. It does not confirm who rolled them, or when.
